A game server panel on top of LinuxGSM
One binary and SQLite instead of PHP, MySQL, Redis and Docker. It adopts the LinuxGSM servers you already run, no reinstall. Built for community admins on a single VPS.
Why
Adopt, don't reinstall
The panel finds LinuxGSM scripts for a chosen user and drives them. It never touches other accounts until the owner lists them.
Light to install
The installer verifies the release signature and checksums before installing, and rolls back if the new version fails to start. Runs on one small VPS.
Secure by default
The privileged part runs a fixed set of operations only. Server files go through one module that cannot escape the server directory. Two-factor sign-in.
What works today
Verified on Ubuntu 22.04. An early version: the list is short and exact.
- start, stop, restart, status, update check and backup of a LinuxGSM server from the web UI;
- finding and adding servers that are already installed (adopt mode);
- sign-in with argon2id passwords, TOTP two-factor, owner/admin/viewer roles, CSRF protection;
- Russian and English interface;
- an installer with signature verification, rollback on a failed upgrade, and uninstall;
- installing new servers from the LinuxGSM catalogue, a config editor, scheduled backups, restarts and update checks;
- monitoring of CPU, memory, disk and server states;
- in the closed Pro build: REST API, several machines through an agent, the Factorio mod list, Discord notifications and commands, a public status page.
Not yet: installing mods from the portal, wipes from the UI, S3 backups, game update rollback, panel self-update. Real-game tests so far cover Minecraft and Factorio only.
How it differs
| Install and stack | Games | Available in Russia | Licence | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pterodactyl | PHP/Laravel + MySQL + Redis, Wings daemon, Docker | via eggs | yes | MIT |
| Pelican | Pterodactyl fork, web installer, SQLite or Postgres | via eggs | yes | AGPL-3.0 |
| PufferPanel | single Go binary | templates | yes | Apache-2.0 |
| Crafty Controller | Python, single node | Minecraft only | yes | GPL |
| AMP | proprietary, easy install | many | no, not sold there | paid |
| Stokehold GSM | single Go binary + SQLite, on top of LinuxGSM | 143 games via LinuxGSM | yes | AGPL-3.0 (core) |
Collected in October 2026 from project repositories and docs. Pterodactyl has had critical vulnerabilities (CVE-2025-49132, CVE-2024-27102).
Plans (intended)
Free
The whole open core (AGPL-3.0), no limit on the number of servers. Makes no requests to our server and needs no key.
Pro
A closed build with the paid features: API, several machines, mod manager, Discord, a public status page; later S3 backups and update rollback. No price announced yet.
Hosting
Several machines and customer access. Later, after the first version.
Install
Pick where the panel will run. The installer verifies the release signature before installing, and you can read it before running it.
Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Debian 12 or newer. x86_64 or ARM64, detected automatically.
sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y curl openssl
curl -fsSL https://dl.stokehold.online/install.sh -o install.sh
less install.sh # read it, quit with q
sudo bash install.shThe one-time code that creates the owner, and how to open the panel:
sudo journalctl -u stokehold | grep "setup code"
# from your computer, to open the panel without a domain of your own:
ssh -L 8080:127.0.0.1:8080 YOUR_USER@SERVER_ADDRESS
# then open http://127.0.0.1:8080 and enter the codeAny Linux with systemd and OpenSSL 3 (Fedora, Rocky/Alma 9, Arch and others). Automatic game dependencies work on Ubuntu and Debian only; elsewhere install them from the LinuxGSM docs.
# Fedora, Rocky, Alma: sudo dnf install -y curl openssl
# Arch: sudo pacman -S --needed curl openssl
curl -fsSL https://dl.stokehold.online/install.sh -o install.sh
less install.sh
sudo bash install.sh
sudo journalctl -u stokehold | grep "setup code"The panel runs on Linux only. Either rent a small Ubuntu 24.04 VPS and follow the Ubuntu / Debian tab, or run Linux inside Windows with WSL2 (Windows 10 22H2 or 11). In PowerShell as administrator:
wsl --install -d Ubuntu-24.04After the reboot open Ubuntu and enable systemd:
printf '[boot]\nsystemd=true\n' | sudo tee /etc/wsl.confRun wsl --shutdown in PowerShell, open Ubuntu again and continue with the Ubuntu / Debian tab. The panel is usually reachable at http://127.0.0.1:8080 from the Windows browser. Game servers in WSL2 are not reachable from outside without port forwarding, so use a VPS for a real server.
The panel runs on Linux only, so a Mac needs a Linux machine nearby. Renting a small Ubuntu 24.04 VPS and following the Ubuntu / Debian tab is the reliable way. For a trial, an Ubuntu 24.04 virtual machine (UTM, Multipass) works: the commands are the same inside it, the panel address depends on the VM's network setup.
ssh YOUR_USER@VPS_ADDRESSThen install as on the Ubuntu / Debian tab.
Update and uninstall
Update: run the installer again; the previous version comes back by itself if the new one does not start. Uninstalling does not touch your game servers.
curl -fsSL https://dl.stokehold.online/uninstall.sh -o uninstall.sh
sudo bash uninstall.shFAQ
Do I need Discord for the panel to work?
No. The panel, licences and updates do not depend on Discord.
Is it free?
Yes. The core is open source (AGPL-3.0) and free, with no server limit. Paid Pro, a closed build, adds the API, several machines, mods, Discord and more. Prices are not announced.
What is sent to your server?
Free sends nothing. Pro sends the key, an instance fingerprint and the panel version to verify the licence. Details will be in the privacy policy.
Who builds it?
One developer who runs a Factorio server. The project is written with an AI assistant; a human makes the decisions and releases.
